KURATAS IS COMING TO FIX FUKUSHIMA LEAKS!

Japanese Government And Private Sector Develop Custom-Like Robot To Fix Fukushima Leaks

Tokyo|  The Japanese Government has unveiled this morning it’s first customized version of the Kuratas, a 4.4 ton remote-controlled robot that could solve the problem of risking human lives in the process of removing nuclear fuel rods from the heavily damaged reactor building at the Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear power plant.

Japanese company Suidobashi Heavy Industry that already develops the 13-foot diesel-powered mechanized robot worked with the Japanese Government to customize the iron giant for nuclear leaking detection and removal of nuclear rods, an idea that could accelerate the process and put humans out of harms way, explains Wataru Yoshizaki, roboticist and inventor of the original prototype.

“The moment I saw the tragedy of Fukushima unravelling in front of my eyes, I knew my Kuratas could play a major part in solving my country’s horrific dilemma” remembers the inventor. “At first, authorities were cold to the idea, but eventually, they understood it was possibly their only way out” he adds.

Straight out of a science fiction novel, the 4-ton robot can withstand levels of heat and radiation over 1,000 times superior to a human being
At an estimated value of 200 M Japanese Yen (JPY) or 2 M$ US dollars, the four prototypes should be set to run as soon as February 2015, admits a spokesman for the japanese ministry of Technologies.
